Course Details
- This course is 3 hours classroom learning time
- Please arrive 15 minutes before the course starts to register your details
- Running late – you will not be accepted on the course and no refund will be issued
- Maximum of 12 delegates per course

- FPT use a combination of Powerpoint presentations, visual aids, practical activities, group work, FAQ’s and assessments to accommodate for all learners.

Course Contents
- The Paediatric First Aid Annual Refresher (VTQ)–training will cover the Paediatric First Aiders Roles and Responsibilities (including health and safety standards).
- As a Paediatric First Aider, you must analyse the situation and prioritise accordingly.
- To know when to place an unresponsive and breathing casualty into the recovery position.
- To be able demonstrate a primary survey. CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation) should be performed on an infant and child.
- Make use of the Automated External Defibrillator; understand why it is utilised and how it works.
- To cope with a choking infant or child.
- This course covers seizures such as epilepsy and generalised seizures.
- There is bleeding and shock.
- Burns are covered as part of the course, including superficial, partial, and full thickness burns. Cuts, grazes, bruises, splinters, and nosebleeds are examples of minor injuries.
- Childhood sickness or injuries covered are;
- Anaphylactic Shock, Electric Shock, Serious bleeding and minor bleeding, Bites and Stings, Asthma, Diabetes, Suspected fractures, Poisoning, Foreign bodies in eyes ears and noses, Eye injuries, Bites and Stings, Heat and cold, Febrile convulsions, Sickle cell, Meningitis and Croup.

- The certificate is valid for 1 year and nationally recognised
