Course Details
- This course is 12 hours classroom learning time
- Please arrive 15 minutes before the course starts to register your details
- Running late – you will not be accepted on the course and no refund will be issued
- Maximum of 12 delegates per course
- 15 minute break
- FPT use a combination of Powerpoint presentations, visual aids, practical activities, group work, FAQ’s and assessments to accommodate for all learners.
- Will involve practical elements, wear comfortable clothing, avoid skirts or dresses
- 30 minutes multiple choice online assessment.

Course Content
- The Equestrian First Aid at Work Level 3 (VTQ) – Requalification)- course will cover the tasks and responsibilities of the First Aider (including health and safety requirements).
- As a first aider, you must assess the situation and assign priorities.
- To understand when to place an unresponsive but breathing victim in the recovery position.
- To be able to show a primary survey. CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation) should be administered to infants, children, and adults.
- Use the Automated External Defibrillator; learn why it is used and how it works.
- To deal with an infant, child, or adult who is choking.
- This course discusses seizures like epilepsy and generalised seizures.
- There is bleeding as well as shock.
- The course covers burns and scalds, including superficial, partial, and full thickness burns.
- Minor injuries include cuts, grazes, bruises, splinters, and nosebleeds.
- Unit 2 will include secondary surveys, recognising fractures, sprains, and strains, and knowing what to do if someone experiences a spinal/head injury.
- Different types of chest injuries must be identified.
- To be able to cope with chemical damage and poisoning to the eyes.
- Asthma, angina, anaphylactic shock, diabetes, epilepsy, general seizures, heart attack hypovolaemic shock, hyperventilation, sepsis, and other medical emergencies.
